Rosemary, Rosmarinus officinalis, is a shrub in the Lamiaceae family that grows wild throughout the Mediterranean. It has numerous phytopharmaceutical virtues, but it is also a seasoning herb and a honey plant (rosemary honey is highly valued), as well as a product frequently used in perfumery. Its name in Latin means "rose of the sea" because it grows spontaneously by the sea, but according to the evangelical tradition "rosemary" means "rose of Mary" (Rosemary in English).
